Pace Maker
Fun Fact
Wondered how the life-saving pacemaker was invented? By stroke of luck of an accident…..
Electrical engineer John Hopps was doing research on hypothermia (dangerously low body temperature) and tried to use radio frequency heating to increase body temperature. He realized if a heart stopped beating because it cooled, it could be started again by artificial stimulation. This discovery gave way to the pacemaker.
The cardiac pacemaker is a medical device that generates electrical impulses delivered by using electrodes that cause the heart muscle chambers to contract and thus, pump blood. The device essentially replaces or at least regulates the heartbeat.
